Tatsu Yamashiro, known as Katana, is a skilled martial artist and swordswoman in the Arrowverse, portrayed by Rila Fukushima. This version of Katana first appears in the TV Show Arrow (Season , Episode ).
Her backstory involves a tragic past. Her husband, Maseo Yamashiro, was killed by his brother Takeo, who was wielding the Soultaker sword. This blade possesses the ability to trap the souls of those it kills. After the tragic circumstances of her husband's death, Katana escaped to find safety from Takeo.
After leaving Japan Katana eventually arrived in Starling City/Star City and became a friend and ally to Oliver Queen/Arrow. She proved to be a valuable member in the Arrow's war on crime.
