Balder Odinson, often called Balder the Brave, is a prominent Asgardian god in the Marvel Universe. He is the son of Odin and Frigga, making him Thor's half-brother. Renowned for his radiant beauty, invulnerability, and inherent goodness, Balder is considered one of Asgard's most beloved figures.

His invulnerability, a gift granted by Frigga to protect him from a prophecy foretelling his death, is his defining trait. She magically bound all things in Asgard to swear an oath not to harm him. However, the mistletoe was overlooked, becoming a fatal weakness exploited by Loki.

Balder's goodness and noble character often place him in positions of leadership and diplomacy. He is typically portrayed as a skilled warrior and a compassionate ruler, acting as a trusted advisor to Odin and a stabilizing force within Asgardian society.

Despite his initial invulnerability, Balder's death and subsequent journey to Hel, the realm of the dead, is a recurring theme in his storyline, often triggering Ragnarok, the Asgardian apocalypse. His resurrection or potential death frequently becomes a focal point of major Asgardian events.
