Walter White is the central character of the AMC television series Breaking Bad, first appearing in the pilot episode, "Pilot" (2008).
White, portrayed by Bryan Cranston, is a high school chemistry teacher in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Frustrated with his mundane life and struggling to provide for his family, which includes his pregnant wife, Skyler, and teenage son, Walter Jr., who has cerebral palsy, he is diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer.
Driven by a desire to secure his family's financial future before his death, White teams up with a former student, Jesse Pinkman, to cook and sell methamphetamine.
