Jadzia Dax is a fictional character in the science fiction television series *Star Trek: Deep Space Nine*. She is a Trill, a species known for their symbionts: worm-like creatures that carry the memories and experiences of previous hosts.
Jadzia is the eighth host of the Dax symbiont, having been joined with it for over 300 years. This gives her a wealth of knowledge, experience, and skills accumulated from her previous seven hosts, including diplomats, scientists, artists, and warriors.
Prior to being joined, Jadzia was a brilliant and dedicated young woman who excelled in astrophysics. After the joining, she retained her intellectual curiosity but also gained the confidence and adventurous spirit of her predecessors.
She served as the science officer on Deep Space Nine and formed close relationships with the crew, particularly with Commander Benjamin Sisko, who had known one of her previous hosts, Curzon Dax, intimately.
