Marinette Dupain-Cheng is the protagonist of the animated television series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, also known as Miraculous Ladybug.
Her first appearance was in the show's premiere episode, "Stormy Weather," which debuted in South Korea on September 1, 2015. Marinette is a seemingly ordinary Parisian teenager.
However, she possesses a magical artifact called a Miraculous, specifically the Ladybug earrings. When she wears them and is inhabited by a magical creature called a Kwami named Tikki, she transforms into the superheroine Ladybug.
As Ladybug, she protects Paris from supervillains alongside her partner, Cat Noir. Unbeknownst to her, Cat Noir is secretly her classmate Adrien Agreste.
