Gizmo is a Mogwai, a small, furry creature from the 1984 film Gremlins, and its sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch. He is characterized by his gentle and timid nature, large brown eyes, and a distinctive singing voice.

Imported from China, Gizmo is initially owned by Billy Peltzer, a young man who receives him as a Christmas gift. He comes with three specific rules: avoid bright light, especially sunlight; never get him wet; and, most importantly, never feed him after midnight. Breaking these rules unleashes chaos.

While remaining a Mogwai, exposure to water causes Gizmo to spawn multiple offspring. Feeding after midnight transforms these offspring into destructive, reptilian Gremlins. Gizmo, however, remains unchanged and is the only Mogwai to resist transformation, maintaining his benevolent personality.

Often held captive and tormented by the Gremlins, Gizmo frequently plays a key role in their defeat. His resourcefulness and occasional acts of bravery are essential to restoring order, even if he prefers peace and quiet.
