Clark Kent is a fictional character from DC Comics, best known as the alter ego of Superman. Born Kal-El on the planet Krypton, he was sent to Earth as an infant by his parents, Jor-El and Lara, to escape the planet's imminent destruction.

He first appeared as Superman in *Action Comics #1* in June 1938. Raised in Smallville, Kansas by farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent, he developed extraordinary abilities due to Earth's yellow sun. The Kents instilled in him a strong moral compass and taught him to use his powers for good.

To protect his identity and live among humans, Kal-El adopted the persona of Clark Kent, a mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet in Metropolis.
