The Iron Golem is a non-player character (NPC) in the popular sandbox video game, Minecraft. It is a large, powerful, and benevolent creature whose primary function is to protect villagers from hostile mobs.

These imposing figures are not naturally occurring; they are specifically created by players or spawned in villages that meet certain population and work conditions. Their construction requires significant resources, specifically iron blocks and a carved pumpkin.

Upon creation, the Iron Golem will patrol the village and actively engage any hostile creatures, like zombies or creepers, that pose a threat to the villagers. Their attacks are devastating, able to kill many common enemies in a single blow. Despite their formidable strength, they are passively neutral towards the player who created them or villagers in general, unless provoked.

A notable quirk is that Iron Golems will occasionally offer poppy flowers to villagers, displaying a seemingly gentle side to their programmed protective nature.
