Biography:

Donkey Kong, a creation of Nintendo, first appeared in the 1981 arcade game *Donkey Kong* as the primary antagonist.

In this initial iteration, he is depicted as an ape who kidnaps Mario's girlfriend, originally named Pauline, and climbs a construction site, throwing barrels and other obstacles at Mario as he attempts to rescue her.

The character has evolved over time, and the original Donkey Kong is often considered to be Cranky Kong in later games. The current Donkey Kong is established as his grandson, continuing the legacy of the character within the Nintendo universe.
