Guo Jia, also known as Guo Fengxiao, was a brilliant strategist serving under Cao Cao during the late Eastern Han Dynasty in the historical novel *Romance of the Three Kingdoms*. He is presented as a key advisor, known for his insightful predictions and unorthodox strategies.

Guo Jia first appears in the novel relatively late in the story. He's recommended to Cao Cao by Xun Yu, who recognizes his exceptional talent and strategic mind. Cao Cao, initially skeptical, is quickly impressed by Guo Jia's analysis of the political landscape.

Throughout his service, Guo Jia consistently provides Cao Cao with crucial advice, contributing significantly to Cao Cao's victories over rivals like Yuan Shao and the Wuhuan tribes. His strategies often involved exploiting weaknesses in enemy formations and accurately assessing the likelihood of certain events.

Guo Jia's life was unfortunately cut short. He died relatively young, reportedly due to illness, deeply regretted by Cao Cao who lamented the loss of such a valuable advisor. Cao Cao famously said that if Guo Jia had been alive during the Battle of Red Cliffs, he would not have suffered such a devastating defeat.
