Jiaying is a character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), primarily known for her role in the TV show Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where she was portrayed by actress Dichen Lachman.
Within the MCU, Jiaying is an Inhuman with the power of life-force absorption. She can extend her lifespan by absorbing the life force of others. She is the mother of Daisy Johnson (also known as Quake) and plays a significant role in Daisy's understanding of her Inhuman heritage.
Jiaying's first appearance within the MCU was in the Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode "Aftershocks" (season , episode ) . She is depicted as the leader of Afterlife, a sanctuary for Inhumans. Her actions are driven by a desire to protect her people, often leading her to make morally questionable decisions. She becomes a key antagonist as her methods clash with S.H.I.E.L.D.
