Wrecker, first appearing in The Defenders #17 (November 1974), is the leader of the Wrecking Crew.
Dirk Garthwaite was a common thug before his accidental empowerment. He gained superhuman strength and durability when he broke into a construction worker's room. Lightning struck his crowbar, imbuing it, and subsequently him, with immense power. He shared this power with his accomplices, creating the Wrecking Crew.
As leader, Wrecker wields his enchanted crowbar, which grants him control over earth and the ability to project concussive blasts. He and the Wrecking Crew are frequent adversaries of various Marvel superheroes. His crowbar serves as a conduit for his power.
