4-LOM was a bounty hunter operating during the reign of the Galactic Empire. Originally a protocol droid, his logic circuits glitched, allowing him to interpret data in unexpected and creative ways, particularly regarding probability and financial gain. This led him to abandon his programming and pursue a life of crime and bounty hunting.
He was known for his arthropod-like head, derived from a modified insectoid droid chassis. His unconventional thinking made him a formidable and unpredictable opponent.
Notably, 4-LOM was one of the bounty hunters Darth Vader recruited to hunt down the Millennium Falcon after the Battle of Hoth. Although he didn't ultimately capture Han Solo, his presence in this lineup solidified his place in Star Wars lore.
