Tow Mater, often simply called Mater, is a character created by Pixar Animation Studios for the Cars franchise. He first appeared in the 2006 animated film, Cars.

Mater is a rusty tow truck residing in the town of Radiator Springs. He is voiced by Larry the Cable Guy and is known for his distinctive buck teeth, southern drawl, and generally good-natured, albeit somewhat dim-witted, personality.

He is Lightning McQueen's best friend and provides comic relief throughout the series. Despite his perceived lack of sophistication, Mater demonstrates a surprising amount of wisdom and resourcefulness, often proving instrumental in solving problems.

His role expands in Cars 2, where he becomes inadvertently entangled in an international spy mission, showcasing a different side of his character and further solidifying his importance within the Cars universe.
