Duncan Idaho is a prominent character throughout Frank Herbert's Dune series. He is originally introduced as a master swordsman in service to House Atreides and a close confidante of Duke Leto Atreides. His loyalty and combat skills are unparalleled, making him a valuable asset to the family.

During the Harkonnen attack on Arrakis, Idaho bravely defends Paul and Lady Jessica, sacrificing himself to buy them time to escape. His sacrifice establishes him as a martyr for the Atreides cause.

However, Duncan Idaho's story doesn't end with his death. He is resurrected multiple times throughout the series as a ghola, a resurrected clone, by the Bene Gesserit and later by Leto II. Each iteration of Duncan retains aspects of his original personality and skills, while also being subjected to the influences of those who created him.
