Rapunzel is a fictional character and the protagonist of Disney's 2010 animated film, "Tangled." She is loosely based on the fairy tale character of the same name from the Brothers Grimm.

As a baby princess, Rapunzel was kidnapped by Mother Gothel, who sought to exploit the magical healing properties of her long, golden hair. Gothel imprisoned Rapunzel in a secluded tower, raising her as her own child and forbidding her from leaving.

Rapunzel spends her days painting, reading, and dreaming of seeing the floating lanterns that appear every year on her birthday. She is depicted as an optimistic, curious, and artistic young woman, despite her isolation.

Her life takes a dramatic turn when she encounters Flynn Rider, a charming thief, who becomes her unlikely accomplice in escaping the tower and discovering her true identity. Throughout her journey, Rapunzel confronts Gothel, learns about her royal lineage, and ultimately reclaims her rightful place as a princess.
