Rubeus Hagrid, born December 6, 1928, is a half-giant wizard and a central character in the Harry Potter series. He is known for his immense size, his love for magical creatures (especially dangerous ones), and his unwavering loyalty to Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore.
Hagrid attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry but was expelled in his third year after being wrongly accused of opening the Chamber of Secrets and unleashing a deadly monster. While innocent, the school destroyed his wand, though Albus Dumbledore managed to have Hagrid retained as the gamekeeper and allowed to live on the school grounds.
In 1991, Hagrid was tasked by Dumbledore to retrieve Harry Potter from the Dursleys and introduce him to the wizarding world. He became a close friend and confidant to Harry, Ron, and Hermione, providing them with support and guidance throughout their time at Hogwarts. He later becomes the professor of Care of Magical Creatures. Hagrid is characterized by his gentle nature, though often tempered by his less-than-stellar judgement when dealing with magical beasts.
