Liao Hua was a minor, yet enduring, figure in the historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. He is primarily known for his longevity and unwavering loyalty to the Han dynasty and, later, the Shu Han regime.

His early career saw him as a bandit leader. He is introduced as a relatively insignificant character, serving under different lords and often playing a supporting role in various conflicts. He briefly served Guan Yu.

Liao Hua's most significant contribution lies in his resilience and ability to survive the tumultuous periods of the Three Kingdoms. He witnessed the rise and fall of many prominent figures and kingdoms, consistently serving Shu Han under several rulers, including Liu Bei, Liu Shan, and Jiang Wei.

Despite his advanced age in the later stages of the novel, Liao Hua actively participated in military campaigns, offering counsel and contributing his experience. His persistence and devotion solidified his place as a loyal, if not brilliant, member of the Shu Han court.
