The Fairy Godmother is a pivotal character in Disney's animated film, Cinderella (1950). She is a magical being whose primary role is to assist Cinderella in attending the royal ball, thus changing the course of her life.

Appearing as an elderly woman with a kind and benevolent demeanor, the Fairy Godmother intervenes during Cinderella's darkest moment, when she is prevented from attending the ball by her cruel stepmother and stepsisters. Using her magic wand and the catchphrase "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo," she transforms a pumpkin into a carriage, mice into horses, a dog into a footman, and a horse into a coachman. She also provides Cinderella with a beautiful gown and glass slippers.

Crucially, the Fairy Godmother sets a condition: the magic will only last until midnight. This element adds a layer of urgency and suspense to Cinderella's experience at the ball.
