Marshall D. Teach, also known as Blackbeard, is a prominent antagonist in the One Piece manga and anime series.

Teach's first appearance is in Chapter 223 of the manga and Episode 146 of the anime. He is portrayed as an ambitious and opportunistic pirate, characterized by his distinct gap-toothed grin and unruly black beard (hence his nickname).

Blackbeard is the captain of the Blackbeard Pirates and a former member of the Whitebeard Pirates. He possesses immense strength and cunning, using these traits to climb the ranks of the pirate world.

Teach is a Devil Fruit user, initially wielding the power of the Yami Yami no Mi, a Logia-type fruit that grants him the ability to control darkness. Later, he acquires the power of the Gura Gura no Mi, a Paramecia-type fruit that allows him to create earthquakes, making him the only known person to possess the power of two Devil Fruits simultaneously.
