Yamato, also known as Kinoe, is a character from the Naruto Shippuden anime and manga series. He makes his first appearance in the series as a replacement for Kakashi Hatake on Team Kakashi (Team 7).
Yamato's real name is Tenzō. He was experimented on as a child by Orochimaru and gained Wood Release abilities similar to those of the First Hokage, Hashirama Senju. This unique power makes him valuable to the Leaf Village.
He is appointed as a temporary leader to keep an eye on Naruto Uzumaki and to control the Nine-Tailed Fox's chakra if it gets out of control. Yamato is generally calm and responsible, acting as a counterpoint to Naruto's more impulsive nature. He utilizes his Wood Release techniques for both combat and practical purposes, creating shelters and restraining enemies.
