Charles Montgomery Burns, commonly known as Mr. Burns, is a recurring character in The Simpsons. He is the elderly and malevolent owner of the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, and Homer Simpson's boss.

Burns is depicted as an intensely greedy, power-hungry, and uncaring individual, often exploiting his employees and the environment for personal gain. He represents corporate avarice and indifference.

His first appearance was in the first episode of *The Simpsons* TV show titled "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" in 1989.

Burns is often accompanied by his loyal, if somewhat sycophantic, assistant, Waylon Smithers.
