Sagara Sanosuke, often simply called Sanosuke or "Sano," is a fictional character from the anime and manga series *Rurouni Kenshin*. He is a key supporting character who becomes a close friend and ally to Kenshin Himura.

Sanosuke's first appearance is in the third episode of the anime, titled "The Man Who Carries Sorrow". He is initially introduced as a fighter-for-hire, harboring resentment towards the Meiji government.

He is known for his immense physical strength and his favored weapon, the Zanbatō, a massive sword (though he primarily fights with his fists after the Zanbatō breaks). His fighting style is raw and powerful, relying on brute force. Sanosuke's character arc involves overcoming his past grievances and finding a sense of purpose alongside Kenshin and his companions.
