Jaylah is a fictional character introduced in the 2016 film Star Trek Beyond. She is a young, resourceful scavenger living on the planet Altamid, a planet within the seemingly impenetrable Nebula.
Orphaned after her father and the crew of her vessel, the USS Franklin, were attacked by Krall's forces, Jaylah survived by utilizing her intelligence and engineering skills. She created a defense system comprised of force fields and traps to protect herself from Krall's drones.
She encounters the crew of the USS Enterprise after they crash-land on Altamid. Jaylah proves to be a valuable ally, possessing extensive knowledge of the planet's terrain, Krall's technology, and the layout of Krall's base. Her knowledge and skills are instrumental in defeating Krall.
