The Lord of the Rings

The Moria Orcs, also known as Moria Goblins, are a hostile faction of Orcs residing within the Mines of Moria, a vast underground complex in Middle-earth. They are a distinct group, separate from the Orcs of Mordor, though all are ultimately servants of evil.

Driven from the surface world, these Orcs adapted to the dark, cavernous environment of Moria. They are characterized by their pale skin, sharp teeth, and generally smaller stature compared to other Orcish breeds.

During the Third Age, the Moria Orcs were led by Azog, who slew King Thrór, inciting the War of the Dwarves and Orcs. Later, after Azog's death, leadership passed to his son, Bolg. These Orcs were responsible for driving Durin's Folk from Khazad-dûm, making it a perilous and inhospitable place.

The Fellowship of the Ring encountered the Moria Orcs during their journey, facing fierce attacks in the Chamber of Mazarbul. The Orcs also roused a Balrog of Morgoth, a powerful demon, from its slumber, ultimately leading to the death of Gandalf.
