Biography:
The Witch-King of Angmar, a prominent antagonist in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium, is the chief of the Ringwraiths, also known as the Nazgûl. He first appears indirectly in The Fellowship of the Ring as a terrifying presence felt by Frodo Baggins.
Once a great king of Men, he was corrupted by Sauron through one of the Rings of Power and became a wraith, forever bound to the Dark Lord's will. As Sauron's lieutenant, the Witch-King commanded Sauron's forces in Angmar, a realm in the north of Middle-earth, waging war against the kingdoms of Arnor.
The Witch-King is a fearsome warrior and sorcerer, clad in black armor and wielding a flaming sword. He is most famously known for his defeat at the hands of Éowyn on the Pelennor Fields during the War of the Ring, where she, aided by Merry Brandybuck, fulfilled the prophecy that "no man can kill him."
