Ishida Uryuu is a prominent character from the anime series Bleach. He first appears in episode 5, "Defeat the Invader!" initially as a rival to the protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki.

Uryuu is a Quincy, a clan of humans with the ability to manipulate spirit particles for combat. He despises Soul Reapers due to a past tragedy involving his grandfather, who was killed while he was still a child, and the Soul Reapers' perceived negligence towards his people.

Despite his initial animosity towards Ichigo, who is a Soul Reaper, Uryuu eventually becomes a staunch ally. He is shown to care deeply about his friends and strives to protect them, even if it means putting himself in danger.

Uryuu is depicted as intelligent, calm, and collected. He is a skilled strategist and is often seen analyzing situations before acting. He is shown in the series, later on, also has a talent for sewing and is seen mending clothing for others.
