The Black Flash is a representation of Death for speedsters in the DC Universe. Existing outside of normal space and time, he appears when a speedster is nearing their end.

He serves as an enforcer of the Speed Force, preventing speedsters from cheating death. His first appearance was in The Flash #138 (June 1998).

He is often depicted with a skeletal appearance, similar to the Flash, but with blackened skin and glowing white eyes. In some portrayals, he simply appears as a distorted or decaying version of the Flash.
