Beast, from Disney's *Beauty and the Beast*, first appeared in the 1991 animated film of the same name.
He is a young prince who is transformed into a fearsome creature with the body of a bear, the horns of a buffalo, the mane of a lion, the tusks of a boar, and the legs and tail of a wolf as punishment for his cruelty and selfishness.
The spell can only be broken if he learns to love and be loved in return before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose. His castle staff are also transformed into household objects.
Initially portrayed as brooding and angry, Beast gradually learns to be kind, compassionate, and selfless through his interactions with Belle. He ultimately sacrifices his own freedom to save her, proving his love and breaking the curse.
