Joel Miller is a central character in the critically acclaimed video game, The Last of Us, first appearing in the game's initial release in 2013.

Prior to the Cordyceps brain infection outbreak, Joel was a father and a construction worker in Texas. The traumatic loss of his daughter, Sarah, at the onset of the pandemic profoundly shaped his personality, hardening him into a ruthless survivor.

In the post-apocalyptic world, Joel operates as a smuggler, undertaking morally ambiguous jobs to survive. His life takes a significant turn when he is tasked with escorting a teenage girl named Ellie, who is immune to the infection, across the ravaged United States.

Over the course of their journey, Joel develops a complex and protective relationship with Ellie, blurring the lines between his hardened exterior and his buried paternal instincts.
