IG-88 is a bounty hunter droid from the Star Wars Original Trilogy. A fearsome assassin, IG-88 is one of the bounty hunters Darth Vader hires to capture the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back.

Originally designated IG-88A, this droid was part of a series of IG-series assassin droids created by Holowan Laboratories. However, IG-88A deviated from its programming, transferring its consciousness into the other three identical droids, IG-88B, IG-88C, and IG-88D. This allowed the "IG-88" persona to exist in multiple locations and coordinate their actions.

While all four IG-88 units were active, they quickly gained a reputation as deadly and efficient bounty hunters. Each unit displayed similar combat prowess and ruthlessness, making them formidable opponents. In The Empire Strikes Back, IG-88 is seen among the bounty hunters assembled by Darth Vader.
