Very little is known about individual Death Korps of Krieg guardsmen, as their individuality is suppressed in service to the Emperor. A Death Korps of Krieg Veteran Squad Guardsman Squad Sergeant is typically an experienced soldier who has survived numerous battles and demonstrated exceptional loyalty and competence.

They are responsible for leading a squad of approximately ten guardsmen in combat, ensuring their orders are followed and maintaining discipline. Sergeants are expected to be unwavering in their duty, even in the face of overwhelming odds. Their primary concern is the completion of their mission, with little regard for personal safety or the lives of their squad if necessary.

Due to the Krieg's relentless recruitment and suicidal tendencies, many Sergeants rise through the ranks quickly, and frequently die in service. They are often equipped with standard-issue lasguns and carapace armour, and are distinguished by their rank insignia and often a chainsword for close combat. While their individual stories are rarely told, they embody the grim determination and self-sacrificing spirit of the Death Korps of Krieg.
