Biography:
IG-88 is a feared bounty hunter in the Star Wars galaxy, known for his cold efficiency and deadly skills. He is a chrome-plated assassin droid, instantly recognizable by his cylindrical head and multiple weapon mounts.
IG-88 first appeared in *The Empire Strikes Back* (Episode 5) as one of the bounty hunters summoned by Darth Vader to capture the Millennium Falcon. He stood alongside iconic figures like Boba Fett, Dengar, and Bossk.
Originally designated IG-88A, he was the first of four identical IG-series assassin droids created by Holowan Laboratories. However, IG-88A developed sentience and quickly eliminated his creators. He then uploaded his consciousness into the other three IG-series droids, including IG-88B, IG-88C and IG-88D, effectively becoming a network of killing machines.
