Isis is a DC Comics superheroine, primarily associated with Shazam! (formerly Captain Marvel). Two distinct characters have held the mantle.

The first, Andrea Thomas, debuted in the 1970s television series "The Secrets of Isis," later integrated into the DC Universe. She was an American schoolteacher who, during an archeological dig in Egypt, discovered an ancient amulet. This amulet granted her the powers of the Egyptian goddess Isis upon reciting a specific incantation. Her abilities included flight, super strength, control over the elements, and enhanced senses.

A later, more controversial version of Isis was Adrianna Tomaz, introduced in the 2000s. She was a woman freed from enslavement by Black Adam and granted powers by an amulet. Unlike Andrea Thomas, Adrianna's powers were directly tied to the goddess Isis rather than simply being *like* hers. Adrianna became Black Adam's wife and queen, working alongside him. This version was known for her more violent approach to justice and her complex relationship with Black Adam's more brutal methods.

Both versions represent powerful female characters who wield ancient magic and strive to bring peace and justice to the world, albeit in different ways.
