Tayuya was a kunoichi from the Hidden Sound Village and a member of Orochimaru's elite squad, the Sound Four (later the Sound Five). She specialized in genjutsu and employed a unique fighting style centered around her flute.

Tayuya's primary ability involved summoning three giant Doki, monstrous beings controlled by her flute music. She could manipulate the Doki to attack and restrain opponents. Furthermore, her genjutsu techniques were powerful, capable of trapping and disorienting even skilled ninja.

She possessed a fiery and aggressive personality, often displaying arrogance and foul language. Despite her abrasive exterior, Tayuya was loyal to Orochimaru and dedicated to her mission.

During the Sasuke Retrieval Mission, Tayuya battled Shikamaru Nara. Although initially gaining the upper hand, Shikamaru's strategic thinking and shadow techniques eventually allowed him to overcome her. She ultimately activated her Curse Mark Second State, significantly boosting her power, but was ultimately defeated by Temari's wind-style jutsu.
