T'Chaka is a pivotal figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), primarily known as the father of T'Challa, the Black Panther.
He reigned as the wise and respected King of Wakanda, a technologically advanced and secluded African nation. T'Chaka was also the Black Panther, Wakanda's protector, inheriting the mantle and superhuman abilities bestowed by the Heart-Shaped Herb.
His MCU debut came in *Captain America: Civil War* (2016), where he attended the signing of the Sokovia Accords but was tragically killed in a bombing. This event sets in motion T'Challa's journey to become the new Black Panther and ultimately King, as seen in the film *Black Panther* (2018).
Actor John Kani originally portrayed a younger T'Chaka in *Civil War*, with Chadwick Boseman also briefly portraying T'Chaka when T'Challa views him in his vision when obtaining the powers of the Black Panther, while actor Atandwa Kani playing a younger T'Chaka in *Black Panther*.
