Biography:
Cao Pi, a prominent figure in the historical novel *Romance of the Three Kingdoms*, is the son of the ambitious warlord Cao Cao. He first appears early in the novel as Cao Cao's heir apparent, often vying for his father's favor against his talented younger brother, Cao Zhi.
Following Cao Cao's death, Cao Pi skillfully maneuvers to inherit his father's power, ultimately forcing Emperor Xian of Han to abdicate and declaring himself Emperor Wen of Wei in 220 AD. This act marks the formal end of the Han Dynasty and the beginning of the Three Kingdoms period.
As emperor, Cao Pi focused on consolidating his rule and expanding the Wei kingdom. He is portrayed as less charismatic and strategically brilliant than his father, relying more on political maneuvering and ruthless tactics to maintain his power.
