General Glory is a patriotic superhero character published by DC Comics. He first appeared in Justice League International #46 (September 1992).
There have been multiple iterations of General Glory, each embodying American ideals, often to a satirically exaggerated degree. The first General Glory was Joseph Jones, a World War II veteran given superpowers by a mystical American flag. He was intended as a parody of Golden Age patriotic heroes.
Later versions included Ernest E. Ernest, who believed himself to be the original Glory, continuing the comedic exploration of American patriotism and its potential pitfalls. General Glory often finds himself involved in Justice League storylines, usually providing comic relief and a unique, albeit often misguided, perspective.
