Horatio Felonious Ignatious Crustaceus Sebastian, most commonly known as Sebastian, is a fictional character from Disney's 1989 animated film, The Little Mermaid.
He is a red Jamaican crab and serves as King Triton's loyal court composer and advisor. Highly educated and classically trained, Sebastian is tasked with overseeing and reporting on Triton's youngest daughter, Ariel.
Initially reluctant and uptight, Sebastian's role evolves throughout the film as he becomes Ariel's protector and eventual confidante. He initially aims to keep Ariel away from humans, but witnesses her growing affection for Prince Eric, and subsequently aides in her quest to be with him.
