Uchiha Madara is a major antagonist in the anime series Naruto Shippuden. He first appears in the form of a statue located in the Hidden Rain Village in episode 32, "Kazekage Return".
Initially believed to be the deceased founder of the Hidden Leaf Village, Madara's history is gradually revealed. He was a legendary leader of the Uchiha clan during the Warring States Period, constantly battling the Senju clan led by Hashirama Senju.
Madara sought to create a world of peace through the Infinite Tsukuyomi, a powerful genjutsu that would trap all living beings in a dream. He manipulated events from the shadows, including the Akatsuki organization, to achieve this goal. He possessed immense power including the Sharingan and Rinnegan.
In the series, Madara's ultimate plan involved becoming the Ten-Tails' jinchuriki and casting the Infinite Tsukuyomi on the moon. He is eventually defeated, ending his threat to the ninja world.
