An Army Household Cavalry Soldier is a member of one of the two senior regiments of the British Army: The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons). These regiments form the Household Cavalry Regiment (HCR).

They perform both ceremonial duties, notably guarding the Sovereign at Horse Guards Parade, and an operational combat role. Soldiers undergo rigorous training in both mounted duties and as reconnaissance soldiers.

Recruits come from diverse backgrounds and are required to meet strict fitness and intelligence standards. Training encompasses horsemanship, weapons handling, battlefield tactics, and reconnaissance techniques.

Operationally, Household Cavalry soldiers serve in armored reconnaissance roles, deploying with advanced vehicles and communication equipment to gather intelligence and provide situational awareness for commanders. They are considered highly skilled and adaptable soldiers capable of operating in diverse environments.
