Biography:
Ookla the Mok is a fictional character most famously known from the 1973 animated television series, Thundarr the Barbarian. He is a Mok, a powerful humanoid lion-like creature, and one of Thundarr's two companions.
In the post-apocalyptic world setting of the show, Ookla is a loyal and fiercely protective friend to Thundarr and Princess Ariel. He provides immense strength and serves as the group's muscle, often tearing through obstacles or battling enemies with his bare hands and powerful roar.
Ookla's backstory is somewhat shrouded in mystery. He seems to have been enslaved or oppressed by some of the villainous factions in the series, making him sympathetic to Thundarr's quest to fight against evil and restore freedom. Despite his intimidating appearance, Ookla possesses a good heart and a deep sense of loyalty, making him a beloved character in the series.
While Thundarr the Barbarian was relatively short-lived, lasting only two seasons, Ookla the Mok remains a memorable and iconic figure from Saturday morning cartoons of the 1970s and 80s.
