Initially considered one of the greatest Green Lanterns, Sinestro was Hal Jordan's mentor. However, his methods were increasingly revealed to be authoritarian and centered around imposing order through fear.
Exposed for his tyranny and use of fear-based tactics to control his sector, Sinestro was expelled from the Green Lantern Corps. This led him down a darker path.
Driven by a belief in the necessity of control, Sinestro embraced fear as a tool, forging a yellow power ring fueled by fear. He formed the Sinestro Corps, dedicated to bringing order to the universe through intimidation.
