Zetsu is a complex antagonist in the anime series Naruto Shippuden. The character first appears in episode 134, titled "The End of Tears." Zetsu is uniquely composed of two distinct halves: Black Zetsu and White Zetsu, which can operate independently or merge.

White Zetsu originated from the cells of the Ten-Tails, and often acted as a scout and information gatherer. Black Zetsu, however, is revealed to be the physical manifestation of Princess Kaguya Ōtsutsuki's will, created long ago to ensure her eventual resurrection.

Black Zetsu manipulates events throughout history, subtly influencing individuals and orchestrating conflicts to revive Kaguya. He's responsible for corrupting Madara Uchiha's understanding of the Sage of Six Paths' teachings, ultimately leading to Madara's pursuit of the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Zetsu serves as a key player in the Akatsuki organization, though his true allegiance lies solely with Kaguya.

Ultimately, Zetsu's actions are driven by a single goal: to restore Kaguya to power, making him one of the most influential, albeit indirect, villains in the entire series.
