Uchiha Madara is a major antagonist in the anime series Naruto Shippuden. He first appears, though unnamed and in shadow, in episode 32 of Naruto Shippuden, as part of Tobi's introduction.

Madara was a legendary leader of the Uchiha clan, known for his immense power and ambition. He co-founded Konohagakure (Hidden Leaf Village) alongside Hashirama Senju, intending to create peace, but his diverging ideals led to conflict.

Madara clashed with Hashirama, ultimately being defeated at the Valley of the End. He manipulated events from the shadows for decades, aiming to implement his plan for world "peace" through the Infinite Tsukuyomi, a genjutsu that would trap humanity in a dream world.

His schemes involved manipulating figures like Obito Uchiha to carry out his will, setting in motion many of the conflicts seen throughout the series.
