Human in Carbonite is a prop and recurring visual gag prominently featured within the Star Wars universe, most notably appearing in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and later revived on The Mandalorian TV Show. While not a character in itself, it depicts the form of Han Solo, frozen in carbonite by Darth Vader.
The process was initially tested on Luke Skywalker but the risk of failure prompted Darth Vader to use Han Solo to test the freezing process first. Han Solo spent a period of time frozen in carbonite, before eventually being rescued by Princess Leia and the team.
The Human in Carbonite appears as a set piece within LEGO Star Wars set. The Human in Carbonite has also appeared as a LEGO minifigure with printed detail and can also be found in the Razor Crest LEGO set.
