Doris Freedman, often referred to as Lunchlady Doris, is a recurring character on the animated TV show *The Simpsons*. She is Springfield Elementary School's grumpy and often unhygienic lunch lady.
Doris's first appearance was in the episode "Lisa's Rival" (Season 6, Episode 2). She's voiced by Tress MacNeille and initially by Doris Grau (hence the character's name).
Her duties include preparing and serving the school lunches, which are frequently of questionable quality, and also works as the school nurse. Doris's lack of enthusiasm and perceived incompetence are running gags throughout the show.
