Kent Brockman is a fictional character on the animated television series, The Simpsons. He is Springfield's perpetually cynical and often sensationalistic local news anchor for Channel 6.
Brockman first appeared in the series' debut episode, "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire", which was part of The Tracey Ullman Show in 1987.
Known for his pompous demeanor and occasional on-air gaffes, Brockman covers everything from local events to global crises, usually with a jaded perspective. He is often quick to jump to conclusions and readily believes outlandish stories, especially if they benefit his career.
