Akaza, whose birth name was Hakuji, is a powerful antagonist from the manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is an Upper Rank Three demon in the Twelve Kizuki, serving directly under Muzan Kibutsuji.

Before becoming a demon, Hakuji lived a harsh life, dedicated to protecting his terminally ill father. He learned a unique martial art style in order to earn money and buy medicine.

His tragic past, marked by loss and betrayal, deeply influenced his transformation into a demon. Muzan, capitalizing on his despair and rage, offered him demonic power.

As a demon, Akaza possesses immense strength, speed, and regeneration. He is a staunch believer in strength, despising weakness and valuing only those he deems worthy. He is known for his distinctive martial arts-based Blood Demon Art, "Destructive Death."

Akaza's primary goal is to become stronger, often challenging powerful demon slayers to fight, and sometimes offering them the chance to become demons to evade death. His battles are driven by a desire for self-improvement and a dismissal of those he considers weak, especially those who use weapons.
