Xiahou Dun was a prominent military general serving under Cao Cao during the late Eastern Han Dynasty and Three Kingdoms period of China. He was a cousin of Cao Cao and a trusted member of his inner circle, known for his unwavering loyalty and bravery on the battlefield.

Xiahou Dun participated in numerous campaigns, often leading Cao Cao's vanguard. He was famed for his courage and strategic abilities, contributing significantly to Cao Cao's expansion of power.

Perhaps the most memorable event in Xiahou Dun's life was during the Battle of Puyang against Lu Bu. Ambushed and shot in the eye, he famously swallowed his eyeball, declaring, "Essence of father, blood of mother, how can I abandon it!" This act cemented his reputation for fierce determination and dedication.

Despite some battlefield setbacks, Xiahou Dun remained a highly respected figure within Cao Cao's court. He held various important positions throughout his career and continued to serve with distinction until his death. He was posthumously honored for his contributions to the Cao Wei regime.
